Leischen Moore is the original Rare Bird. She received her Masters of Art in Vocal Performance/Musical Theatre from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education. Leischen also holds a BMA from Pacific Lutheran University in Music and Theatre. She has continued her own lifelong learning with post-graduate work at Shenandoah Conservatory, Douglas College, and Baldwin Wallace Conservatory.
She is an avid performer and music director in the South Puget Sound and was twice nominated as Best Actress in A Musical. She has been actively teaching in the Tacoma area since 2006 and is a workshop presenter at the national level. Leischen was chosen as an Emerging Leader in 2016 by the National Association of Teacher’s of Singing (NATS). Leischen has served as President of the Tahoma Chapter of NATS, as well as being on the executive board for the Northwest Region of NATS. She has previously served on the faculty for the Somatic Voicework™ Institute in Residence at Baldwin Wallace University. She is currently adjunct faculty for Pacific Lutheran University's BFA in Musical Theatre.
Leischen is a passionate dog momma to a tricolor cavapoo, Cosmo Brown. She enjoys walking around the world (especially the Iberian Peninsula), but daily settles for routes closer to home.
